Bentley’s Jago Chosen as Candidate for Hockey Senior CLASS Award

Waltham, Mass. – Bentley University's Tanner Jago (Brandon, Manitoba), the captain of the Bentley hockey team, has been named one of 15 candidates for the 2018-19 Hockey Senior CLASS Award.

The Senior CLASS Award recognizes student-athletes that excel in four areas; community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS is an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.

The 15 candidates will be whittled down to 10 in February, and a nationwide vote from media, coaches and fans will select the winner, which will be announced during the 2019 Frozen Four in April.

Jago has been a standout defenseman on and off the ice for head coach Ryan Soderquist's Bentley program in his four years. Among active Atlantic Hockey defensemen, he has played the most career games at 119, and is tied for the most points with 64.

Last season he was among the national leaders in points per game among defensemen, with his 0.80 average ranked 14th.

Jago is a captain for the Falcons this season after he served as assistant captain last season.

In the classroom, he has been named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic team three years running, while majoring in finance, with a minor in both mathematics and history.

Jago joins Bentley alumni Max French and Andrew Gladiuk to have been named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award in recent years.
