Schmidt Chosen as Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week; NCAA 2nd Star

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Kyle Schmidt (Menomonee Falls, Wisc.) has been chosen as both the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week, and the NCAA 2nd Star of the Week. Schmidt had five points, three goals and two assists, in the Falcons' sweep of RIT over the weekend.

Schmidt netted his second career hat trick in Saturday's 5-2 win. He scored the game's first two goals in just 4:33 to stake the Falcons to an early lead. He then completed the hat trick with a power play goal midway through the third period.

In Friday night's 4-3 win, he had the primary assist on a goal by sophomore Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) to tie the score 2-2.

Schmidt now 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points on the season, which leads the team in goals and is tied for the team lead in points. Over the weekend he also moved into the top-six on Bentley's Division I career points list at 113 points.

Bentley hosts Air Force on Friday night to start the final weekend at the JAR and will be in search of its fourth straight win, before they open the new Bentley Arena on Feb. 16 against Army.
