Game Notes

The Matchup: Bentley will attempt to make it five wins in a row on Wednesday night when they visit the Brown Bears in a non-conference matchup at the Meehan Auditorium. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm in Providence.

After defeating 18^th ranked UMass-Lowell 3-2 in overtime earlier in the week, Bentley earned its fourth straight win last Friday night with a 6-2 decision over AIC in Springfield. Six different players lit the lamp, with two goals coming on the power play, one shorthanded, and one penalty shot goal. Sophomore goalie Aidan Pelino extended his personal winning streak to four as well.

The game vs. AIC was Bentley's final Atlantic Hockey game of the first half. They'll enter the break at 4-6-3 in conference games for 11 points, and currently tied for 6^th place. Bentley won't play another Atlantic Hockey game until Jan. 9 at home to Sacred Heart.

Brown will enter Wednesday's game at 5-6 overall and 4-6 in the ECAC, tied for 5^th with Harvard and Yale. This past weekend they split a pair of road games, with a 3-1 loss to Union and a 5-4 OT win over Rensselaer.

Last Time Out: Bentley erupted for four goals in the 2^nd period on its way to a 6-2 win at AIC last Friday night. Trailing 1-0 after the first period, sophomore Matt Riggleman scored a shorthanded goal at 11:12 of the 2^nd period to tie the game.

Towards the end of the period, the Falcons scored three times in a span of 1:37 to take a commanding 4-1 lead. It started with a penalty shot goal from Ryner Gorowsky with 3:05 left, which was Bentley's first penalty shot attempt since a game in the 2012-13 season vs. AIC.

Just 22 seconds after Gorowsky's goal, senior Kyle Schmidt scored a power play goal to make it 3-1. 1:15 after that, defenseman Connor Brassard scored for the second time in as many games to make it 4-1. Freshman Luke Santerno and Jonathan Desbiens added third period goals for the final margin.

Scoring Streaks: Four Bentley players have scoring streaks of at least four games, and two have five game streaks. Riggleman and Drew Callin have five game streaks; Riggleman at nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) and Callin at seven points (3 goals, 4 assists). Riggleman has surged into a tie for the team lead in points with 12 (3 goals, 9 assists), with Kyle Schmidt (5 goals, 7 assists).

Brassard and Gorowsky are on four game streaks. Gorowsky has six points (2 goals, 4 assists) and Brassard has four points (3 goals, 1 assist).

Pelino on a Roll: Meanwhile, Aidan Pelino has played a big part as well in Bentley's winning streak. He's been named the Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Week the last two weeks. He's started each game during the winning streak and has a 4-0 record, with a .936 save percentage and a 1.97 goals against average in the last four outings.

He has now been named Goalie of the Week four times in his career, with two coming last season.

Power Play Continues to Click: The Falcons scored two more power play goals in Friday's win, the sixth time this season they've scored multiple PP goals in a game. On the season, Bentley's percentage of 24.3 (17-70) is 8^th best in the nation.

Series History: Wednesday's game will be just the second all-time meeting between these two programs. The first came in the 2009-10 season down in Providence, which was a 3-2 Bentley win. They rallied for the win with two third period goals from Dustin Cloutier and Jamie Nudy.

Looking at Brown: The Bears have a balanced offense, with 13 different players having a goal to their name, no one with more than six goals, and 20 different players with at least one point. Junior Tommy Marchin is the team's leading goal scorer, while sophomore Brent Beaudoin leads with six assists.

Sophomore Gavin Nieto has started eight games in goal, and sports a 4-4 record with a .920 save percentage. They have a strong penalty kill at 83.6 percent, good for 18th nationally.

Brown's other non-conference game to this point was a 4-2 win over Bentley's Atlantic Hockey rival, Holy Cross. They've posted ECAC wins over Yale (4-1), St. Lawrence (3-1) and Princeton (3-0).

Up Next: Bentley will close out the first half of the season on Saturday with a visit to another ECAC team, this time Dartmouth. Face-off is set for 7:00 pm in Hanover, New Hampshire.
