Desbiens Named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's Jonathan Desbiens (Montreal, Quebec) has been named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Desbiens netted a hat trick in the Falcons' 3-3 tie with Niagara last Friday night. He scored twice in the final 4:48 of regulation to help them battle back from a 3-1 deficit to force overtime. The tying goal came with just 6.9 seconds left on the clock. His first goal of the night, at 15:40 of the 2nd period, and second goal, at 15:12 of the 3rd frame, were both on the power play.

It was his second career hat trick, after he scored three goals in a 6-3 win at RIT last season.

In Saturday's season finale vs. the Purple Eagles, he scored another goal to give him four for the weekend.

Desbiens leads the team in goals (5) and points (8) through eight games this season. It's the second time in his career he's earned an Atlantic Hockey weekly award, after he was named Rookie of the Week following that RIT series.

Bentley will be in action just once this weekend, when they visit Merrimack on Friday night for its first non-conference game of the season.
