French Signs with AHL’s Utica Comets

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University captain and 3rd all-time leading scorer in its Division I era, Max French has signed an agreement with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League, the team announced Friday.

The Comets play in the North Division in the AHL, which is the league directly below the NHL. They're affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL.

French recently wrapped up a decorated four year career at Bentley. He notched 143 career points, which is 3rd most in Bentley's Division I era. His 67 career goals are 3rd most as well, and the 76 assists he tallied are 5th. French also notched 22 career power play goals, which is tied for 2nd most, while also seeing a significant amount of time on the penalty kill.

He was named first team All Atlantic Hockey the past two seasons after amassing 39 points as a senior (17 goals, 22 assists) and 47 points (23 goals, 24 assists) as a junior. That points total in 2015-16 was tied for 4th most by a Bentley player in a single-season, and his per game average of 1.47 ranked 4th nationally.

In his four years at Bentley, French played in 138 games.
