Orr Named Atlantic Hockey Defenseman of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman defenseman Brett Orr (Elkhorn, Manitoba/Portage) has been named the Atlantic Hockey Defenseman of the Week after a big two games for the Falcons against Army West Point.

Orr was Bentley's leading scorer over the two games, as he notched four points on one goal and three assists. His goal came at a clutch time, in the Falcons' 3-1 win at Frozen Fenway on Jan. 5. With Bentley leading 2-1 in the final minute, his empty-net goal from the other end of the ice with 10 seconds left sealed the victory.

One night later back at the JAR, the Manitoba native played a big part in Bentley's 5-5 tie, after they fell behind 5-2, with three assists on the night. His 3rd assist came on Kyle Schmidt's power play goal at 11:28 of the 3rd period, which got Bentley to within 5-4. Defenseman Chris Buchanan would later tie the game with just 1:47 left in regulation, as the team fought back to earn the tie, and a three-point weekend from the Black Knights.

Orr, who also posted a team-best +4 rating for the series, is the 2nd Bentley defenseman of the season to earn the award. Alexey Solovyev (Moscow, Russia/Lone Star) was tabbed back on Oct. 18.

Bentley is back on the ice on Friday night, when they open a series at Niagara.
