Solovyev Named Atlantic Hockey Defenseman of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore Alexey Solovyev (Moscow, Russia/Lone Star) was named the Atlantic Hockey Defenseman of the Week on Tuesday. Solovyev scored once in each of Bentley's games against Northeastern over the weekend.

Solovyev scored a shorthanded goal in Friday's 1-1 tie with the Huskies at the JAR in the team's home opener. The goal came at 2:54 of the 2nd period and knotted the game at one apiece. The sophomore then fired in a power play goal late in the 1st period of Saturday's game at Matthews Arena.

Solovyev, who was invited to the Dallas Stars' Development Camp over the summer, leads the team in goals with three after the opening three games of the season. He scored Bentley's 2nd goal in the Falcons' season-opening, 5-1 victory at UNH on Oct. 8.

The Falcons have opened the season 1-1-1 after playing three games against Hockey East teams. They now are set to open Atlantic Hockey play when they head out to Colorado this weekend for a series against Air Force.
