ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT defeated Bentley 3-0 Sunday night in game three of the Atlantic Hockey quarterfinals to end the Falcons' season. Senior Taylor McReynolds had two goals for the Tigers.

The Falcons' record finishes at 16-16-8, while RIT improves to 19-12-6. The Tigers will face either Niagara or Mercyhurst in the AHA semifinals next Friday at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

McReynolds, who came into the game with just two goals all season, scored twice in the third period to send RIT on its way.

With the hosts holding a slim 1-0 lead entering the third period, McReynolds put them up two at 4:38 after a persistent effort by senior defenseman Trevor Eckenswiller. Eckenswiller got the play started by skating around the net and having his shot on the near post saved by goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon). Eckenswiller kept at it and took two more shots from close range that were saved by Komm, and on the fourth attempt McReynolds put the rebound in.

McReynolds essentially sealed the game for RIT with his second of the night at 10:06. He made a steal in Bentley's offensive zone, and with the puck in the slot, rifled a wrist shot past Komm to make it 3-0.

RIT struck first with sophomore Adam Mitchell scoring at 5:35 of the opening period. Mark Cornacchia threw the puck on net with Mitchell in front surrounded by two Bentley players, but Mitchell got his stick on it to push the puck under Komm for the goal.

Bentley then had a lengthy power play opportunity, as McReynolds was given a five minute major for charging at 7:34, matched by a two minute minor to Joe Campanelli (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Westminster Prep). But a 1:12 into those penalties, Cameron Burt was called for high-sticking at 8:46, giving the Falcons an eventual 5-on-3 for 1:12. But solid penalty killing by the Tigers prevented Bentley from creating any real scoring chances, as they only mustered two shots on Shane Madolora.

The second period was scoreless as scoring chances were at a premium with Bentley outshooting them 8-6. Both teams went 0-3 on the power play.

Madolora made 33 saves to earn the win, his 17^th of the season. Komm stopped 21 shots, and his final record stands at 16-14-7.
