Bentley, Clarkson Play To 2-2 Tie

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Junior Brett Hartung (Tallahassee, Fla./Wichita Falls Wildcats) scored his second goal of the series 10:06 into the third period to tie the score at two, and that's the way the game ended between the Bentley University hockey team and Clarkson Saturday night at Ryan Skating Arena.

The Falcons struck first on a Mike Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Olds Grizzlys) power play goal at 6:55 of the first period with a slap shot from the blue line.

Bentley went into intermission with the 1-0 lead, but just 36 seconds into the second period Clarkson's Sam Labrecque scored a power play goal of his own off a face-off win from Ben Sexton.

A little under four minutes later, Nick Tremblay netted his second of the series to give the Golden Knights a 2-1 lead that they held onto until Hartung's goal in the third.

Clarkson had a 5-2 advantage in shots in overtime and a power play opportunity as well, but sophomore goalie Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) kept the puck out of the net. Komm made 32 saves on the night, and his counterpart Paul Karpowich made 29.

Bentley's record goes to 1-5-1 with the tie, and Clarkson's record goes to 5-1-2.

The Falcons return to Atlantic Hockey play next weekend for a two-game series against Canisius in Buffalo beginning on Saturday.
