Bentley Places 15 on Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Atlantic Hockey Association recently announced its 2010-11 All-Academic team, and Bentley University is well-represented again with 15 student-athletes named to the team. Ten of the players earned at least their second selection overall and nine are repeat honorees from a year ago.

Recent graduates Joe Calvi (New Lenox, Ill./New England Jr. Huskies), Brandon Graffunder (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Alaska Avalanche) and Jeremy Robert (Maplewood, Minn./Bismarck Bobcats) are three of just a handful of players who were named All-Academic for the fourth straight time.

Five players, recent graduate Erik Peterson (Shorewood, Minn./Sioux Falls Stampede), and rising seniors Tyler Quartuccio (Aurora, Colo./Culver Military Academy), Kyle Rank (Islip, N.Y./Markham Waxers), Aaron Stonacek (Basehor, Kan./Fairbanks Ice Dogs) and Mike Switzer (Calgary, Alberta/Olds Grizzlys) all earned their third selections.

Dustin Cloutier (Berkley, Mich./Mahoning Valley Phantoms), a recent graduate, and rising senior Trent Bonnett (Butler, Pa./Mahoning Valley Phantoms) garnered their second selections.

Rising senior Jamie Nudy (West Chester, Pa./Choate Rosemary Hall), rising junior Dan Koudys (Grimsby, Ontario/Burlington Cougars) and rising sophomores Joel Goodsell (Rochester, N.Y./Bridgewater Bandits), Branden Komm (Williamsville, N.Y./Northfield Mount Herron) and Jared Rickord (Skokie, Ill./Springfield Jr. Blues) are first-time honorees.

In all, a record 175 student-athletes from the league's 12 teams were named All-Academic, eclipsing the previous high of 135 set after the 2009-10 season. Robert Morris led the way with 24 selections, followed by American International's 23.

To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during both semesters of the school year.
