WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) was named the Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Month for February, the league announced Tuesday.

Gensler, whose Falcons play host to Sacred Heart in the first round of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament Saturday night, led the team in scoring last month with five goals and six assists for 11 points.

He scored a goal in five of the team's eight games and had a point in all but one. In three games he had multiple points; a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win at Sacred Heart Feb. 5, a goal and two assists in a 4-2 win against UConn Feb. 18 and two assists in a 3-3 tie with Holy Cross Feb. 26.

Gensler finished the regular season as the team's leading goal scorer with 13 and second in points with 23. He's tied for second among Atlantic Hockey rookies in goals and sixth in points.

He's the first Falcon to win a monthly award since sophomore Joe Campanelli (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Westminster Prep) was named Rookie of the Month last February.
