WHEELING, W.V. – The Bentley University men's golf team closed out the regular season Tuesday by placing 17th among 26 teams in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional at the Oglebay Resort's Jones Course, which will be the site of the NCAA Atlantic/East SuperRegional next month.

Bentley's top golfer during second round action was junior Chris Huban (Cohoes, N.Y./Albany Academy), who turned in a 79, an improvement of four strokes over Monday. His 36-hole score of 162 put him in a tie for 75th place.

Junior Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) led the Falcons in the tournament as he tied for 54th in a 130-player field with a 74-85-159. He was followed by senior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS) (t-60th, 80-80-160) and junior Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS) (t-66th, 79-82-161).

Charleston (W.V.) overcame a six-stroke day one deficit to edge Gannon University for first place by two strokes, 598-600. Medalist honors went to Glenville State's Benjamin Fernandez, who won by eight strokes with a five-under 67-70-137.

Bentley, number nine in the latest NCAA Division II East Region rankings, will wait until late Friday afternoon to see if its season will continue with an NCAA regional bid.
