Bentley Finishes Day 1 of Post Eagles Invitational in 10th

WATERTOWN, Conn. – The first two rounds of the Post University Eagles Invitational, contested Monday at the Watertown Golf Club, ended with the Bentley University Falcons in tenth place. A total of 13 teams are competing in the 54-hole, two-day event.

Bentley, after a first-round 308, improved by seven strokes during the second round and finished the day with a 609. The Falcons are eight strokes out of eighth place and 17 out of the top five. St. Thomas Aquinas College and Indiana University (Pa.) top the leaderboard with 575 and 580, respectively.

Junior Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.) shot an even-par 71 over the second round and finished the day tied for 23rd with a 78-71-149.

The next best scores for Bentley were recorded by sophomore Zach Stewart (Pembroke, Mass./Duxbury HS) and Andrew teDuits (Charlestown, Mass./Boston College HS). Both are tied for 31st in the field of 81 with a 36-hole score of 151. Stewart turned in a 78-73 and teDuits, who was competing as an individual, posted a 79-72.

Assumption University's Sean Magarian had an outstanding day, finishing four-under with a 71-67-138, and leads Post's Ethan Phillips by four strokes in the battle for medalist honors.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
