Bentley Ties for 4th in Granite State Opener

CONCORD, N.H. – Sophomore Zach Stewart (Pembroke, Mass./Duxbury HS) posted a two-under 70 during the second round Tuesday, helping the Bentley University golf team tie for fourth in Southern New Hampshire University's Granite State Opener at the Beaver Meadow Country Club. A total of 13 teams competed in the tournament.

Bentley, with a team score of 297-298-595, matched SNHU in the final standings of the 36-hole event. The top three were Post University (288-293-581), Assumption University (294-288-582) and Dominican University (290-300-590).

Stewart had five birdies during Tuesday's action, including four over the last seven holes. He finished in a tie for 22nd place with a 79-70-149.

Bentley's top finisher in the tournament was senior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS), who tied for 11th with a 72-74-146. His second round included four birdies.

Tying for 17th for the Falcons were senior Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) and freshman

Andrew teDuits (Charlestown, Mass./Boston College HS). Stuart followed his opening round 71 with a 77 and teDuits recorded back-to-back 74's. He started fast on Tuesday with birdies on three of the first five holes.

SNHU's Evan Rollins was the tournament champion as his nine-under 68-67-135 resulted in a winning margin of four strokes. Post's Ethan Phillips was the runner-up with a five-under 139.

Bentley will be back in Concord next Monday and Tuesday for the SNHU Penmen Invitational at the Concord Country Club.
