Outstanding 2nd Day Lifts Walter Into Tie for 11th at NCAA Regional Preview

LEBANON, Pa. – Bentley University senior co-captain Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) turned in his best round of the spring and finished the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional in a tie for 11th place.

Playing at the 7,026-yard Iron Valley Golf Club Tuesday, Wright fired a one-under 71 for a two-day score of 77-71-150. That was seventh best among golfers from East Region institution and only one stroke out of a top five finish in the final tournament of the regular season.

Walter's round included three birdies, all within a four-hole span, and one double-bogey, that coming on his final hole of the day. After starting the day on the 15th hole, he birdied the par-four 373-yard second, the par-five 511-yard third and the par-three 124-yard fifth.

Walter's effort helped Bentley move up two places in the team standings and finish 19th among 25 teams with a 321-306-627.

Bentley's second-best golfer in the tournament was junior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS), who tied for 70th with a 78-81-159.

The individual medalist was Gannon's Giovanni Delorenzi, who finished at one-under with a 68-76-143. He finished three strokes in front of Adelphi's Filip Wetterqvist, Connor Alfieri of California (Pa.) and St Thomas Aquinas' Donte Groppuso.

Bentley will now wait for Friday afternoon to see if the Falcons will receive a bid to the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic regional tournament.
