Lynch, Berg Lead Bentley During Day 1 of Saint Anselm Invitational

CANDIA, N.H. – Senior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS) and sophomore Bennett Berg (Portland, Maine/Portland HS) were Bentley University's top golfers during day one of the Saint Anselm Hawk Invitational Monday at the Candia Woods Golf Links.

Lynch finished the day in a tie for sixth after shooting a two-over 73, and Berg was two places and one stroke back. Both players had two birdies during their round. Lynch birdied the par-four 12th and the par-five 16th while Berg's came on the par-five 10th and par-four 14th.

Their efforts helped Bentley reach the tournament's midpoint fourth among ten teams with a 301. When play resumes on Tuesday, the Falcons will be seven back of Dominican University (N.Y.), four behind number two Franklin Pierce, and one back of Saint Anselm.

Next on the leaderboard for Bentley were sophomore Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.) in a tie for 14th (75, 3 birdies) and junior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS) in a tie for 21st (76, 1 bird). Eaton was competing as an individual, and has a result, his performance wasn't considered for Bentley's team score.

Dominican had the day's top two scorers with Alejandro Gomez posting a one-under 70 and Alexander Lundvall shooting an even-par 71.
