Walter at Top of Leaderboard Following Day 1 of Eagles Invitational
WATERTOWN, Conn. – After the opening day of Post University's Eagles Invitational at the Watertown Golf Club, Bentley University senior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) is the tournament's co-leader.
Walter turned in a three-under 68-71-139 Monday and shares the lead with Post's Bill Koch (67-72-139). Walter, over his last three rounds, has been six-under-par.
His impressive day one performance on the par-71, 6,603-yard course included nine birdies. During both rounds, he birdied the par-five 498-yard hole.
In the team standings, Bentley is tied for fourth in a field of 14 with a score of 295-298-593. The Falcons trail Post (575), Le Moyne College (582) and St. Thomas Aquinas (583).
The number two man for the Falcons was sophomore Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS), who is tied for 19th following a 74-74-148. He posted par scores on 28 of the 36 holes, tied for the tournament high.
Senior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS) also had a solid performance for the Falcons. He finished the day tied for 28th with a 77-73-150.
The third and final round will get underway Tuesday at 9:15 am.
