Walter Bentley’s Top Finisher in Penmen Invitational; Falcons 7th in Team Standings

CONCORD, N.H. – After posting a two-over-par 74 during Tuesday's action, Bentley University senior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS) finished Southern New Hampshire University's Penmen Invitational in a tie for 17th with a team-best 75-74-149.

Walter's play helped Bentley finish seventh among the 15 participating teams with a 301-307-608. Southern New Hampshire captured team honors by four strokes over Assumption University, 583-587, after beginning the day eight back in third place.

Bentley's number two finisher was sophomore Nelson Eaton (Groton, Vt./St. Johnsbury Acad.). He had a second-round 76 for a 36-hole total of 150.

Sophomore Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) and junior Tim Picard (Dracut/Lowell Catholic HS) tied for 34th in the 84-player field at plus-11. Each had a two-day score of 155 with Picard posting a second-round 78 and Picard an 80.

The tournament medalist was Merrimack College's Patrick McCarthy with a 71-69-170. He edged SNHU's Matt Conti by a single stroke.

On Sunday and Monday, Bentley will compete in the Northeast-10 Championships at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y.
