Bentley Opens Golf Season with First Two Rounds of Granite State Opener

CONCORD, N.H. – Brian Bain made his debut as Bentley University golf coach Monday with his team finishing day one of the Granite State Opener seventh among nine teams. His squad turned in a 302-295-597 with the second-round score fourth best.

The final round of the scheduled two-day, 54-hole tournament, which was hosted by Southern New Hampshire University at the Beaver Meadow Country Club, was rained out.

Leading the Falcons was senior Jared Walter (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS), who finished the day tied for 14th following a 73-74-147.

Senior Kevin Lynch (Haddam, Conn./Xavier HS) was second among Bentley golfers and tied for 20th overall with a 76-73-149.

Also for the Falcons, junior Timothy Picard (Dracut, Mass./Lowell Catholic HS) finished tied for 24th (76-74-150), sophomore Evan Desjardins (Salem, N.H./Salem HS) was 31st (78-74-152) and junior Aidan Stuart (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) turned in a 77-76-153 for a tie for 32nd.

In the team standings, Assumption University finished the day with a one-stroke lead over Southern New Hampshire (581) and a two-stroke advantage over Post University (582).

On the individual leaderboard, SNHU's Matt Conti (72-66-138) is a stroke ahead of teammate Jeff Liss.
