Bentley Finishes 3rd in Mike Bello Invitational; Ethier Again Leads the Way

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – Led  once again by senior co-captain Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), the Bentley University men's golf team finished third among eight teams in the Mike Bello Invitational Monday, hosted by Le Moyne College at the Timber Banks Golf Course.

It was a tight battle between the top four teams with Bentley, the number one ranked team in the NCAA Division II East Region, posting a 599 and finishing four strokes back of tournament champion St. Thomas Aquinas. Le Moyne was second, halfway in between the Spartans and Falcons, and SUNY Delhi followed at 601.he Assumption Invit

Ethier, the 2019-20 Northeast-10 Player of the Year, continued his strong play as he finished third among 45 players with a one-over 145. He carded a one-under 71 during the morning's 18 and recorded 75 during the afternoon.

]Hunter McGee (Goldey-Beacom) was the medalist after he shot a five-under 67 during the second 18. That followed an opening round 72 and gave him a 36-hole score of 139. Tyler Birdd of Le Moyne finished second at even par (76-68-144).

]Bentley's next three finishers were graduate co-captain Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./ Homestead HS), junior Matt Mackin (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS) and sophomore Jared Walker (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor HS). Yoder and Mackin tied for 11th with a 151 and Walker tied for 17th with a 73-79-152.

]On Friday, Bentley is scheduled to be at the Blackstone National Golf Club for the Assumption Invitational, the final tournament before the April 20 Northeast-10 Championships.
