Falconer Leads Bentley during Day 1 of Penmen Invitational

CANTERBURY, N.H. – Led by senior Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS), the Bentley University men's golf team finished day one of the Penmen Fall Invitational in ninth place among 17 teams.

Two rounds were played Monday at the Canterbury Woods Canterbury Woods Country Club and Bentley turned in a 310-294-604. The 16-hole improvement from the tournament's first to second round was tied for the second best.

Falconer finished the day in a tie for 14th after posting a 76-71-147. That was a jump of 11 places from his standing after the opening round.

Junior Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind,/Homestead HS) was Bentley's number two performer with his 76-74-150 putting him in a tie for 24th in the 90-man field.

Junior Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) had an outstanding second round, a two-under-70, and will begin the final round in a tie for 33rd with an 81-50-151.

Canada's Laval University is at the top of the team leaderboard after shooting a three-under 573. Assumption College and Post University follow, at 585 and 586 respectively.

Laval's David Tweddell is the individual leader with his eight-under 136 good for a one-stroke lead over Minwoo Park of Concordia College (N.Y.).

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
