Bentley Finishes 13th in JR Watkins Invitational; Simione Top Falcon on Leaderboard

LAKE CITY, Minn. – On a day when the team and its top two finishers duplicated their scores from Monday's opening round, the Bentley University golf team placed 13th of 21 in the JR Watkins Invitational, hosted by Winona State University.

The Falcons climbed one notch in the standings after turning in their second straight 310 for a tournament total 620.  They missed out on the top ten by only eight strokes.

Junior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) was Bentley's top finisher, his second straight putting him in a tie for 27th at 150. That was an improvement of ten places from his standing at the midpoint. There were a total of 124 players in the tournament.

Bentley's number two finisher, senior Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS), repeated his opening round 76 for a 152 total. He matched Simione's second-day improvement and tied for 34th place.

Coach Mickey Herron's club will be back competing next Monday and Tuesday when the Northeast Conference Championships are held at the Lake Sunapee Golf Club in New London, N.H.
