Oliver & Meyers Lead Bentley During Day 2 of NCAA Regional

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) fired a one-under 71 and sophomore Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) turned in his second straight 74 to lead Bentley University during day 2 of the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Super Regional at Timber Banks Golf Club Tuesday.

Oliver had five birdies and four bogeys as he recovered from an opening round 82. The turnaround gave him a 36-hole score of 153 and boosted him 45 places in the standings into a tie for 29th in the 108-player tournament.

Meyers will begin Wednesday's final round tied for tenth with a 74-74-148. The top two players not on a team that finishes the regional in the top five will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held later this month in Colorado. Meyers will go into Wednesday tied for the third best score among players not currently on a top-five team.

As a team, Bentley is tied for 14th out of 20, 16 strokes out of the top five with a 320-304-624. The Falcons' 304 tied for the regional's ninth best second-round score.

St. Thomas Aquinas (306-290-596) is at the top of the team leaderboard with a two-stroke lead on Southern New Hampshire (313-285-598) and a three-stroke advantage on Wilmington University (Del.).

Individually, St. Thomas Aquinas' Christopher Gentle has a one-stroke lead on Le Moyne College's John Clare. Gentle shot a sizzling eight-under 64 Tuesday for a 77-64-141 36-hole score.

Wednesday will be a shotgun start with play beginning at 8 am.
