Oliver Helps Bentley Take 2nd in Dowling Memorial

SHOREHAM, N.Y. – Led by senior co-captain Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy), the Bentley University Falcons moved up one spot from the midpoint and finished second among 13 teams during the Dowling Memorial Golf Tournament at the Tall Grass Golf Course during a rainy Saturday on Long Island.

Bentley, with a score of 599 (301-298), trailed only Le Moyne College (289-296-585) as the two Northeast-10 Conference rivals were the only teams in the field to break 600. Franklin Pierce and Chestnut Hill tied for third, both at 605.

Oliver shot a one-over 72 during Saturday's round, an improvement of two strokes from his Friday performance, and tied for fifth with a 146. He finished three strokes back of tournament medalist John Clare of Le Moyne, who followed his opening round 69 with a 74 for a one-over 143.

Bentley sophomore Cal Meyers (Richfield, Wisc./Slinger HS) and Falcon freshman Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS) both tied for 13th with a 36-hole score of 150. Kulikowski had a second round 73 and Meyers followed his first-round 73 with a 77.

Falcon senior Zach Pollard (Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon HS) also had a solid tournament, tying for 23rd with a 77-76-153.

Bentley's next tournament is the Le Moyne-hosted Mike Bello Invitational April 11-12.
