Oliver Places 4th in Barton Invitational in Spring Debut

WILSON, N.C. – Bentley University senior Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/ Lincoln Academy) finished fourth overall in the Barton Invitational in his opening tournament of the spring season. He followed up on his first-round 72 with a 76 for a 36-hole score of 148.

As a team, Bentley tied for ninth place in the 16-team field, posting a 311-319-630. Southern New Hampshire won the tournament by 12 strokes over runner-up Barton College, 592-604.

Following Oliver, Bentley's next best scores were posted by a pair of freshmen who were competing as individuals, Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) and Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS). Simione recorded a 73-79-152 to tie for 19th and Kulikowski's 74-80-154 put him in a tie for 26th. A total of 89 players participated in the two-day event.

Individual honors went to SNHU's Jake Nutter, who won on the second playoff hole after posting a 73-73-146. His teammate, Matt Paradise, and Mount Olive's Brady Hollenbacher also turned in 146's.

Bentley will return to action with the Bear Trap Dunes Invitational Friday and Saturday in Ocean View, Del.
