Tri-Town Transcript: "McQueen earns Academic All-American honors at Bentley University"

Recent graduate Dan McQueen was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-America team, along with teammate Matt Michel. His hometown paper, the Tri-Town Transcript, recently spoke with Dan about this honor in an article that appeared in the June 20 edition of the paper and online at www.wickedlocal.com/topsfield.

Dan McQueen, a Masco graduate and Topsfield native, was named to the 2013 Capital One NCAA Division 2 Academic All-America Men's At-Large team.

McQueen, who graduated with summa cum laude honors from Bentley University this past spring, was selected along with friend and co-captain Matt Michel of Danvers.

"It felt great to get that award," said McQueen. "It was great to be able to get that honor with him. It just felt very good to get it."

With a GPA that sat above 3.85 at the time of graduation, McQueen, a finance major, says that academics are "absolutely first" on his list of priorities. But that did not preclude him from attaining success on the golf course.

The Falcons earned an NCAA tournament bid in each of his three years on the team. In his senior year, McQueen played a team-high 22 rounds and had a stroke average of 77.4, slightly better than his career average of 77.5.

McQueen credits his consistency with a determination to always be at the top of his game.
