Michel & McQueen Repeat Selections on Capital One Academic All-District Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second straight year, Bentley University golfers Matt Michel (Danvers/Danvers HS) and Dan McQueen (Topsfield/Masconomet Reg. HS) have been selected for the Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 Men's At-Large team by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The two will now advance to the national ballot for the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America team, which will be announced next month. Michel will be looking to earn Academic All-America honors for the second time after earning third-team accolades a year ago.

District 1 includes the Northeast-10 Conference, the East Coast Conference and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with athletes competing in a variety of sports, including golf, tennis, lacrosse, swimming, fencing, wresting and ice hockey, eligible for the at-large program.

Michel and McQueen both completed their college careers last week by helping Bentley tie for tenth in the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Super Regional. Michel was the Falcons' top finisher, tying for 34th overall with a 54-hole score of 230, and McQueen turned in a 233, including a final round 73.

Michel led the Falcons in stroke average for the second straight year, with his 75.8 just a shade off the 75.5 he recorded as a junior. McQueen's mark of 77.4 was also slightly above his 2011-12 average of 77.0.

Both players also excelled in the classroom with Michel owning a lofty 3.88 grade point average and McQueen right behind him at 3.85. Michel earned his GPA with a double major (corporate finance and accounting, liberal studies), and McQueen is a finance major.

They are two of four repeat selections on the ten-player team, a distinction they share with Dana Borges (Stonehill, hockey) and Julian Marcum (New York Tech, tennis).
