Bentley Opens Spring Season with 6th Place Finish in Bayside Resort Invitational

SELBYVILLE, Ohio – In the opening tournament of the spring season, Bentley University finished in the middle of the pack of the 13-team Bayside Resort Invitational, tying with UMass-Lowell for sixth place. The Falcons opened with a first-day 315 and slipped to a 329 during Sunday's second round for a total of 644.

Freshman Malcolm Oliver (Damariscotta, Maine/Lincoln Academy) was the top golfer for the Falcons, tying for 11th place with a 76-81-157. Next on the score list for Bentley was senior Dan McQueen (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Reg. HS), with 81-80-161, tying for 23rd in a field of 72.

Junior Harry Kirkpatrick (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) and senior Matt Michel (Danvers, Mass./Danvers HS) tied for 27th, with a two-day total of 162.

Andreas Lunding of Wilmington (Del.) earned medalist honors by three strokes over Niklas Koerner of St. Thomas Aquinas, with Lunding finishing at even-par 144.

Wilmington claimed the team title with a 605, seven strokes better than runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas.

Bentley will host the Cape Cod Classic March 30 at the Bay Pointe Club in Onset Beach.
