OCEAN CITY, Md. -- With senior captain Alex Macielak (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs HS) leading the way, Bentley University finished fourth of 11 teams at the season-opening St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational, which concluded Saturday at the Rum Point Golf Club.

Bentley had a 309 day-two score and finished with a 614, 24 back of first-place St. Thomas Aquinas. American International was second at 604 and Dowling College was third at 608. Bentley's "B" team was seventh with a 319-312-631.

Macielak fired a one-over 73 on Saturday and placed sixth overall with a 150. Bentley's number two man was junior Nick Clarke (Plymouth, Mass./Cape Cod Academy), who tied for 12th (77-76-153).  Falcons Grant Alter (Rancho Sante Fe, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) and Terrence Tedeschi (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS) both tied for 14th in the field of 60, at 154.

Anthony Corsi of Dowling earned medalist honors with a three-under 141 after shooting a 69 second-round score. Mike Gunderson of St. Thomas Aquinas finished two strokes back in second.

Freshman Harry Kirkpatrick (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Reg. HS) had an outstanding round on Saturday for the Falcons, a two-over 74, by far his best as a collegian.

Bentley's next tournament is the Dowling Spring Fling April 2-3 on Long Island.
