NORTH SUTTON, N.H. -- Junior Nick Clarke (Plymouth/Cape Cod Academy), the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year, continued his strong season by tying for third place in the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Invitational, which concluded Monday at the Country Club of New Hampshire.

Clarke posted a 79 during the tournament's second round and finished at 154, one stroke back of both B.J. Powers of Franklin Pierce University and Ryan Myers of Assumption College. Powers won the playoff, with a birdie on the first hole, to claim medalist honors.

Bentley, tied for first at the tourney's midpoint, slipped on Monday and placed fifth in the eight-team field. The Falcons struggled to a second-round 325 for a two-day total of 641. Assumption, with a 631, captured the team title by two strokes over both Manhattan College and UMass-Lowell.

Sophomore Francesco Possio (Torino, Italy) and senior captain Alex Macielak (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs HS) were Bentley's second and third golfers in the tournament. Possio tied for 12th (78-83-161) and Macielak tied for 15th (82-80-162) in the field of 40.

Bentley will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday with the New England Championships at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster.
