Bochenek Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University graduate wing Kellan Bochenek (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont HS) has been named the Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference for the week ending Dec. 19.

During a 2-1 week, Bochenek shot a blistering 67 percent from three, making 16 of 24, and 67 percent overall while averaging 18.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists. In addition to his shooting, Bochenek had only one turnover in 82 minutes.

Bochenek was five-of-six from deep in a 106-71 win over Felician and finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. At Post University in a 74-73 loss, he made a career-high six three-pointers in 10 attempts and finished with a career-best 20 points and six rebounds. On Tuesday, in a 102-83 win against Bridgeport, he scored 19 points (7/10, 5/8 3's) for his third straight impressive effort. In addition to his shooting, Bochenek had only one turnover in 82 minutes.

The productive week has elevated Bochenek to second on the team in scoring with a 12.3 average. He leads the conference in three-pointers made (37) and is seventh in three-point accuracy (.468). Over the last eight games, he's made 31 of 56 from downtown.

Bochenek, a first-year starter, has improved his scoring average 8.5 points a game from last season's 3.8.

Bentley, 7-5 overall, returns to action Jan. 3 with a home game against Assumption University.
