Bentley Wraps Up 2023 Portion of Schedule with Tuesday Home Game vs. Bridgeport

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a tough loss at Post University Sunday afternoon, the Bentley University men's basketball team will look to close out the 2023 portion of the schedule on a positive note when it takes on the University of Bridgeport Tuesday night at home in non-conference action.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm and it will be streamed over the NE10 NOW Digital Network.

Bentley, 6-5 overall, will be looking to continue its home success which includes four wins in as many games this season and 34 victories in the team's last 37 contests played in Waltham. On the home court, the Falcons have shot .516 overall and .458 from deep while averaging 86.8 points.

Bridgeport, 5-5 overall, had won four of five before suffering a 47-point loss at Adelphi University Saturday, 104-57. The Purple Knights have played five non-conference games against Northeast-10 opponents with wins against American International and Pace, and losses to Southern Connecticut and Saint Anselm, as well as the Panthers.

Bentley comes into its 12th game of the season with all five starters owning double-digit scoring averages. Senior guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS), currently 23 points shy of 1300 career, tops the list at 20.2. He was limited to eight points in the 74-73 Post loss but drained a three with under 15 seconds left to give Bentley a one-point lead at the time.

Graduate guard Kellan Bochenek (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont HS), 26 of 48 on three-pointers in the last seven games, has moved into second on the team with an 11.6 average. His 20 at Post was a career-best.

Also in doubles for coach Jay Lawson's Falcons are senior guard Aaron Latham (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury HS), sophomore guard Cash McClure (Readfield, Maine/Maranacook HS) and senior forward Ivan Misic (Toronto, Ont.). Misic scored 19 at Post and McClure tied his collegiate high with 15.

Bridgeport will also come into the game with five players possessing double-figure scoring averages. That includes sixth-man Joshua Denis, a senior guard. He missed four games earlier in the season but is averaging 12.5 points.

The top scoring starter for second-year head coach Krunch Senadhi is six-five senior D'Andre Collins. He averages 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds, and is the Purple Knights' top threat from three, 21 of 49 (.429).

Bridgeport averages 83.6 points per game and allows 83.0, a number that has climbed to 94.3 in their three road games.

Bentley trails the all-time series, 20-17, but is 12-3 against Bridgeport since the 2005-06 season. The home team has won the last eight meetings, including a 111-72 Falcon win two seasons ago. Last year's contest was cancelled due to facility issues down at Bridgeport.

After Tuesday, Bentley will have two weeks off before hosting Assumption University Jan. 3.
