  1. WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore guard Zach Laput (Beacon Falls, Conn./Notre Dame HS) and senior guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) combined for 48 points, including 23 during a dominating second half, as Bentley University rallied from a 12-point deficit to defeat Pace University, 85-73, in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

Laput finished with a career-high 25 points and Webb followed with 23 as the Falcons, ranked 25th in this week's NABC Division II coaches poll, improved to a conference-best 11-2 overall and 6-2 in NE10 action. Pace, the NE10 Southwest Division leader entering the game, dropped to 9-5, including 5-2 conference.

During a 50-point second half, Bentley shot 56.5 percent overall, made eight of 11 three-pointers and sank all 16 of its free throws, finishing the day at a school-record 19 of 19 at the stripe. Meanwhile, Pace shot only 36 percent and was just one of 13 from deep after intermission. That contrasts to 52 percent overall and 7 of 13 from three in an opening half that ended with the Setters up 43-35.

Down six with 13 minutes to play, Bentley ran off 10 in a row to take its first lead since the 12:17 mark of the first half. Three-pointers from Webb and senior guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School), coupled with two Laput free throws and a lay-up from graduate guard Colton Lawrence (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO HS), made it 60-56 Falcons with 11:05 left.

With the contest deadlocked at 65 with 6:47 left, Bentley seized control with a 16-4 run making it an 81-69 game with 2:58 remaining. Lawrence led the charge with a pair of three-pointers, and graduate guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) added five points. The differential peaked at 14, 85-71, on two Webb free throws with 32.2 seconds.

Bentley started fast, hitting five of its first six shots to open an 11-4 lead less than three minutes into the first. The rest of the opening stanza belonged to the visitors with the Falcons shooting only 9 of 28. Webb (13 points) and Laput (12) combined for 25 of Bentley's 35 first-half points.

Laput, whose previous best of 22 came at Post Dec. 18, shot 7 of 12 overall, made three of five triples and was perfect on eight free throw attempts. He also matched Mello-Klein with a team-best eight rebounds.

Webb, coming off a game-winning three Tuesday against New Haven, finished seven of ten overall, four of six from deep and five of five at the line.

Bentley's five double-figure scorers also included Mello-Klein (11, with 7 assists), Wright-Kinsey (10) and Lawrence (10).

Pace was led by junior guard Brandon Powell (Middletown, N.Y.) and graduate guard Brandon Jacobs (Cambria Heights, N.Y.), with 22 and 16 points, respectively.
