Bentley Hosts Saint Rose Wednesday, Looking to Get Back on Track

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following back-to-back road losses to New Haven and Pace University, the Bentley University men's basketball team will return to the Dana Center Wednesday to take on The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights, a team they already own one win against this month. Game time is 7:30 pm and the contest can be viewed on the NE10 NOW Digital Network.

Bentley, unranked for the first time in four weeks, will enter Wednesday's game at 14-4 overall and 6-3 Northeast-10, good for a four-way deadlock for first in the conference's Northeast Division. The Falcons have been perfect in the Dana Center this season, with nine victories in as many attempts.

Saint Rose's overall record, 4-14, is the exact opposite of Bentley's and the Golden Knights have won only one of their eight NE10 contests, 93-74 over Assumption Jan. 11. They'll be looking for their first road win since a 68-66 victory at St. Michael's two months ago.

When the two teams met on Jan. 2 out in Albany, Bentley led from the opening basket during an 85-74 victory. Both senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School) and junior guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) recorded double-doubles and sophomore guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School) scored a career-high 21 points, including 16 in the first half without missing a shot.

Hudson, seven points away from 1,200 career, is one of four NE10 players ranking eight in scoring and rebounding with his averages standing at 17.5 points and 8.1 rebounds. He's also leads the Falcons in field goal percentage (.576), free throws (66) and blocked shots (26).

Webb, one of the top shooting guards in the conference with a .508 field goal percentage, follows Hudson in the scoring column with a 16.2 production level. Also in doubles for the Falcons is junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy), who contributes 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists a game.

The expected starting lineup for 29-year Bentley head coach Jay Lawson also includes Wright-Kinsey and junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS). Wright-Kinsey has scored in doubles in seven of his last nine games and Blust owns a .557 field goal percentage.

Bentley continues to lead the NE10 in scoring margin (11.2) while ranking third in the conference in defense (69.1) and seventh in scoring (80.3). In conference play, the Falcons have limited their opponents to 69.7 points per game with a positive scoring margin of 6.8.

Saint Rose features one of the top frontcourt players in the conference in six-foot-five sophomore Sekou Sylla. He leads the NE10 in rebounding (11.9) and field goal percentage (.580), and is second in scoring with a 22.3 average. Sylla, who had 21 points and eight rebounds against Bentley in the first meeting, has 14 double-doubles to his credit.

Junior guard Adam Anderson, the only player who has started every game for second-year head coach Mike Perno, follows with a 12.6 scoring average and is Saint Rose's leader in three-pointers with 30.  Freshman wing Cartier Bowman has had a solid rookie season, averaging 10 points with a .554 field goal percentage.

Saint Rose ranks last in the NE10 in scoring defense, giving up 82.7 points a game, with their opponents shooting 48 percent from the field.

A stretch of playing four out of five on the road will continue with Bentley traveling to Springfield to take on American International Saturday and to Syracuse for a Tuesday encounter with Le Moyne.
