Bentley Visits Franklin Pierce Saturday, Looking to Continue Strong Start

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's basketball team, 7-1 overall with a four-game winning streak, will attempt to continue its strong start to the season Saturday when the Falcons travel to Rindge, N.H. to take on Franklin Pierce University. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 pm and the webcast will be available on NE10 NOW (www.ne10now.tv).

Coach Jay Lawson's team will be facing a Ravens team that is 3-3 overall and 1-2 Northeast-10. Franklin Pierce, which defeated Assumption 86-78 in its only game in the FPU Fieldhouse, will be looking to bounce back from an 84-65 loss to Stonehill.

Bentley is coming off a 96-87 road win at Assumption on Wednesday, a game that saw the Falcons shoot .613 overall with three 20-point scorers. The trio of senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School), junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) and junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS) combined for 71 points on sparkling 29 of 39 shooting.

The Falcons, 2-0 NE10, have a .549 field goal percentage during the current streak, which also includes wins over New York Tech, Stonehill and American International. They've been off the mark from three in the last two, a combined 7 of 29, since knocking down 13 of 19 in the Stonehill game.

Hudson, who became Bentley's 54th 1,000-point scorer during Wednesday's game, and sophomore guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS), share the team lead in scoring with both at 17.1 points per game.

Also in doubles are Mello-Klein at 13.4 and Blust at 11.9. Mello-Klein, in his last three games, has made 25 of 36 shots overall, six of eight three-pointers and eight of ten free throws. He's also third in Division II in assists, averaging eight a game.

Sophomore guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School), who averages 8.9 points and 4.3 rebounds, rounds out the starting five for Bentley. Off the bench, senior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Reading HS) and sophomore forward Adria Amabalino-Perez (Barcelona, Spain) have both been productive, averaging 8.5 and 7.1, respectively.

Mello-Klein (.522) and Stankiewicz (.517) rank in the NE10's top five in three-point accuracy, and Webb is just outside the top ten at .487. He's also third in Division II in free throw percentage at .960 after having his consecutive made streak end at 32.

Franklin Pierce features senior guard Doyin Fadojutimi, the Northeast-10's number two scorer at 21.3 a game. He's made at least half his shot attempts in five of six games, has connected on 22 of 45 of his three-pointers and recently scored 36 points in a 100-94 loss to Saint Anselm.

The other two double-figure scorers for coach David Chadbourne's team are sophomore guard Isaiah Moore and senior guard Falu Seck. Moore averages 13 points with a .509 field goal percentage and Seck is at 12.7 with a pair of 20-point games.
