Bentley Wraps Up Season-Opening Homestand Sunday vs. Molloy

WALTHAM, Mass. – After sweeping two Central Athletic Collegiate Conference opponents last weekend in the Tip-Off Classic, the Bentley University men's basketball team will conclude a season-opening three-game homestand Sunday afternoon at Molloy College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 pm and the game can be viewed on the NE10 NOW digital network.

Coach Jay Lawson's team put up crazy numbers in wins over Wilmington University (Del.) and Concordia College (N.Y.). The Falcons outscored the two by an average of 38 points a game and crushed the two on the glass with a rebound margin of 29.5. Bentley shot 55 percent in the opening two games and knocked down 27 of 53 three-pointers, a .509 accuracy mark.

Four Falcons averaged in doubles during the weekend, including junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy). He had a triple-double against Wilmington and finished the two games with averages of 12 points, 12 assists and 8.5 rebounds.

Many of his assists went to sophomore guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS), who averaged 25 points while shooting .600 overall and 9 of 17 from deep.

Bentley also received 19.5 points a game from senior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/ Northampton Williston School) and 13.0 from classmate Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School). He came off the bench to sink six of nine from behind the arc.

Sophomore guard Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School) pitched in with nine points and six rebounds a game. Junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central HS) returned from missing most of last season to score eight a game. In addition, sophomore Adria Amabilino Perez (Barcelona, Spain) collected 19 rebounds in 34 minutes.

Molloy dropped its first two games of the season, falling to Dominican College 95-75 and to Southern New Hampshire 87-83 in overtime.

Senior guard Nick Corbett played 80 of the 85 minutes and averaged 24 points. 29 of those came in the SNHU game.

Four other Lions averaged in doubles during the opening weekend, including six-foot-eight sophomore Pano Pavlidis, who averaged a double-double (11 points, 11.5 rebounds).

Molloy didn't shoot well, .397 overall and 16 of 49 from deep, and saw its opponents connect at a .504 clip.

After facing Molloy, Bentley will prepare for the season's first road game, Wednesday evening at the University of Bridgeport.
