ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The trio of senior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate), junior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School) and sophomore guard Colton Lawrence (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO HS) combined for 61 points, including 39 of the team's 42 in the first half, and 26 rebounds as Bentley University posted its fifth straight double-figure victory, 84-71 over Molloy College in non-conference men's basketball Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium.

Richmond, the Northeast-10 scoring leader, led the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Hudson recorded a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double and Lawrence made four of five triples en route to 18 points.

Bentley, ranked 15th in Division II, improved to 13-1 after holding Molloy to its lowest point total of the season against a Division II opponent. The Lions, who had been undefeated at home, fell to 8-5 overall.

The Falcons got off to a fast start, scoring 13 of the game's 15 points to build an 11-point advantage. Hudson had seven of his team's first nine and both Richmond and Leonard hit their first bucket of the game during that five-minute stretch.

Molloy drew to within one or two points six times in an opening half that ended with the visitors up a half-dozen, 42-36. Richmond went into intermission with 17 points and Hudson had nearly as many, 15.

Bentley's lead hit 11 four times during the first ten-plus minutes of the second half, the last time when junior guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School) drained a three with 9:56 to make it a 62-51 game.

After sophomore guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon, Mass./Thayer Academy) scored with 4:19 left to put Bentley up 70-58, Molloy scored 11 of the game's next 14 points to pull within four, 73-69, with 1:41 to play.

The Falcons pulled away by making 11 of 12 free throws in the final 94 seconds, including four of four by Hudson and three of four by Richmond. Two of those came after Lion leading scorer Curtis Jenkins (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was assessed a technical after fouling out with about 70 seconds left.

Mello-Klein was Bentley's fourth double-figure scorer as he made five of eight shots for 11 points. He also had five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

For Molloy, Jenkins scored 19 points and junior guard Nick Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed with 18. Both struggled from the field, combining to make 14 of 39.

Molloy had two more field goals, 29-27, but Bentley had an 11-7 advantage in threes and finished with 13 more free throws, 19-6.The Falcons outshot the Lions 46-41 percent and had a three-rebound edge, 39-36.

On Wednesday, Bentley will resume Northeast-10 Conference play when it hosts Le Moyne College at 7:30 pm.
