EASTON, Mass. – Led by senior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate) and junior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston-Northampton School), the Bentley University starting unit combined for 81 points as the Falcons stayed unbeaten with an 84-71 win over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball Wednesday night at the Merkert Gym.

Richmond, who moved into 15th on Bentley's all-time scoring list with 1,481 points, powered the Falcons with a season-best 25 points, four rebounds and five assists, and Hudson followed with a season-high 19 points, six boards and two steals.

Bentley, 3-0 after winning its road and conference opener, shot an impressive .556 overall, the third straight game they've made at least 55 percent of their field goal attempts.

The Falcons, down nine with under five minutes left in the first half, turned the game around with a 24-11 blitz that produced a 49-45 lead with 15:53 to play in the second.

It was a 13-6 burst to finish the first half with that run bringing the Falcons within two, 40-38. Hudson got it started with a drive and a reverse lay-up. Senior forward Zach Gilpin (Hampden, Maine/ Hampden Academy) helped with a three from the left wing, and Richmond scored the final six points of the half.

After Stonehill scored the first basket of the second, Bentley embarked on an 11-2 run. Four of the five starters pitched in with baskets, including sophomore guard Colton Lawrence (Myerstown, Pa./ ECHO HS) with both a three-pointer and a drive.

With the Skyhawks (1-2, 0-1 NE10) back within two with under nine to play, Bentley pushed it back to a ten-point game with eight unanswered. Richmond found Hudson for an inside basket, sophomore guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy) drained a mid-range jumper, Richmond rattled in a three to beat the shot clock and Hudson made one of two at the line.

Richmond's fourth triple of the night, with 1:52 left, essentially locked up the win, making it a 13-point spread, 80-67.

Richmond (8-12 overall, 4-6 3's) and Hudson were followed on the scoring list by Gilpin (17), Lawrence (12) and Mello-Klein (8). Gilpin shot seven of ten overall, including three of four from downtown, and also claimed seven rebounds. Lawrence made five of eight shots with a pair of threes, and Mello-Klein filled the stat sheet with eight boards, six dimes and no turns.

For Stonehill, junior forward Dan Larget (Oceanport, N.J.) led the way with 16 points.

The Falcons outshot the Skyhawks 56-47 percent, buried half of their 20 three-pointers and dominated the boards, 37-22.

Bentley is back at home Saturday for a 1 pm matinee against Merrimack College.
