Richmond Receives 2nd-Team All-Northeast-10 Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./ Thomson Collegiate), who is tied for third in the conference in scoring, has been selected for the 2016-17 All-Northeast-10 men's basketball second team.

Richmond has had a standout second collegiate season for the Falcons with his 21.7 scoring average fourth best in program history and the best by a Bentley guard since Bill Holden 29 years ago. The only Northeast-10 players with higher averages are Southern Connecticut's Mike Mallory (23.0) and Saint Anselm's Tim Guers (22.6).

Among the conference's top 20 scorers, Richmond is the only one shooting at least 47 percent overall, 39 percent from three and 84 percent from the line. He also averages 5.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.7 steals.

Richmond, whose buzzer-beating three at Merrimack Tuesday gave the Falcons a win and kept the season alive, has 14 20-point games this season for the 14-12 Falcons. Included were 39 (one shy of the school record) in an overtime loss to Stonehill and 34, including 25 in the second half, in a win at St. Michael's.

Richmond's scoring average is more than triple the 6.0 he put up last winter as a freshman. His playing time has doubled and his shooting percentages are improved across the board.

Richmond and his teammates will be on Long Island Friday night for a first-round Northeast-10 championship game against Adelphi University.
