Bentley Visits Pace Wednesday in Search of 9th Win in 10 Games

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following an 80-65 win at American International Saturday that extended the current win streak to three, the Bentley University men's basketball team will be back on the road twice this week, beginning with a Wednesday night encounter at Pace University. Game time at the Goldstein Fitness Center is set for 7:30 pm with a link to a live webcast available at www.bentleyfalcons.com.

Bentley will head to Pace at the top of the Northeast Division standings in the Northeast-10, owning a half-game lead over Saint Anselm College following the Hawks' loss to Southern Connecticut Saturday.  The Falcons are 12-3 overall, 9-1 in conference action and 8-1 in their last nine games, a stretch in which they have outscored their opponent by 16 a game.

Pace has lost seven of its last nine to fall to 7-11 overall and 4-6 NE-10, putting the Setters in fourth place in the Southwest Division. Most recently, coach Matt Healing's team dropped an 84-78 decision at Stonehill on Saturday.

Bentley's 80-65 win over AIC Saturday featured double-doubles by senior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS) and CoSIDA Academic All-America Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS). McFarland knocked down five rebounds en route to 22 points and tied his career-best with 14 rebounds. Hyland followed with 21 points, 11 boards and seven assists.

At AIC, Bentley also received strong play from junior guards Matt Barr (Stratham, N.H./Cushing Academy) and Chris Murray (Littleton/Littleton HS), who were a combined 7-of-7 with five three-pointers. Barr scored a career-high 13 points and has averaged 10 points on 7-of-8 shooting while starting the last two games. Murray netted a career-best eight in 12 minutes off the bench.

McFarland, who trails only 2,000-point scorers Bill Holden and Jason Westrol on Bentley's all-time scoring list, tops the Falcons in overall scoring (22.3) while Hyland is number one in conference play at 22.1. Hyland leads the team in rebounds (7.6), assists (52) and steals (18) while McFarland is the Falcons' best in blocks (31) and free throw accuracy (.889).

Senior guard Alex Furness (Wells, Maine/Wells HS) ranks in the top six nationally in both three-point percentage (.529) and assist-turnover ratio (3.62) while scoring 15.1 points per game.

Pace has four double-figure scorers, including six-six freshman Ryan  Peterson, a three-time NE-10 Rookie of the Week selection who leads the Setters at 14.9. His 60 three-pointers leads the conference and he also contributes 6.5 rebounds a game.

Senior forward Kyle Pearson follows at 13.2 and the Setters also receive over 12 a game from guards Shelton Mickell and Bryan Rivers.

Bentley will also be on the road Saturday for a matinee at Le Moyne College.
