Hyland Named NE-10 Spalding Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior guard Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/ South Portland HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Spalding Men's Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Falcons hand both 6-1 Molloy College and 8-1 Le Moyne College their second losses of the season.

In the two victories, Hyland averaged 26.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting at a 56 percent accuracy rate and knocking down a half-dozen three-pointers.

In a 99-92 win at Molloy, Hyland made 11 of 16 shots en route to a 28-point performance. He also filled the stat sheet with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Five days later, he amassed 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 73-67 victory over Le Moyne.

Hyland, who has 79 points in his last three games, leads the Falcons in scoring (20.1), assists (36) and three-pointers (25), and is also second in rebounds (6.3). During the month of December, he's put up 23.8 points a game after averaging 17.7 in November.

Also recognized by the NE-10 with an appearance on the Weekly Honor Roll was junior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS). He averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists and a steal while shooting 52 percent overall. Included was a 25-point, 11-rebound effort in the win at Molloy.

Bentley, 5-5 with a two-game winning streak, plays at Caldwell College Friday night and the University of New Haven Sunday afternoon.
