McFarland Earns Third Straight Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the third straight week and the fifth time this season following a career game in the season finale last Tuesday.

McFarland saved his best for last as he finished provided 29 points, 14 rebounds and two assists in the Falcons' fourth straight win, 81-70 over UMass-Lowell. He established career highs in points, for the second straight game and third time in his last six, and rebounds while becoming the first Falcon to have at least 29 points and 14 rebounds in the same game since 1995.

McFarland, a member of the NE-10 All-Rookie Team, made 11 of 20 shots overall and buried five of eight threes, setting career-bests for both field goals and three-pointers.

The strong finish to the season boosted his scoring average to 15.5 points as he became the first freshman to lead Bentley in scoring in more than 40 years. He also led the team in rebounds (8.4 a game), blocks (30) and free throw percentage (.835), with his rebound average fifth best in the conference.
