WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University freshman Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week following his outstanding performance last week. It's the second straight week and the fourth time this year that he's received the honor.

McFarland averaged 19 points, 10.5 rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals as the Falcons (10-15, 8-13 NE-10) enjoyed a 2-0 week with wins at Franklin Pierce University and Stonehill College. He shot 48 percent overall, made four of seven from outside and was a perfect 12-12 at the line.

McFarland tied his career-high in rebounds (12) at Franklin Pierce while recording his eighth double-double, and had a career-best 28 points, along with nine rebounds, in the Falcons' 66-63 win at Stonehill Saturday.

McFarland will enter tomorrow's season finale against UMass-Lowell with averages of 14.9 points and 8.2 rebounds, with his scoring output the best by a Falcon freshman in 42 years. He's been finishing the season strong, producing 20 points and 10 rebounds a game over the last five contests. During that stretch, he's been on target on 10 of 17 three-pointers and 20 of 21 free throws.
