Field Hockey Looks to Clinch Home Playoff Game in Final Week of Regular Season

WALTHAM, Mass. – Just two games remain in the regular season and Bentley will be at home for both of them this week. They host Franklin Pierce on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM and Pace on Friday at 4:00 PM.

Playoff Picture

With just two games remaining, Bentley is tied for 3rd place in the standings with Pace at 8-3. The top-four teams host a quarterfinal game on October 31 and the Falcons can secure one of those spots by winning its final two, or with one win and a loss by Southern New Hampshire.

The Penmen are in 5th at 7-4 but hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Falcons.

Assumption can clinch the regular season title with a win on Wednesday and Saint Anselm (9-2) is in line for a top-four spot as well.

Stingy D

Bentley dominated defensively in its two wins over Southern Connecticut and Adelphi last week. In the 2-0 win over the Owls on Oct. 18 Bentley did not allow a single shot. In Saturday's 3-0 road win the Panthers mustered just two shots on goal.

The Falcons boast the NE10s second stingiest defense at 1.25 goals allowed per game. They have seven shutouts on the season.

Crowell Gets NE10 Nod

Senior Emily Crowell was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. In addition to her defensive work in the two shutouts, she scored on a penalty stroke against Adelphi. That was her second goal of the season and fifth of her career.

The award was the first of her career.

Series History

Bentley leads the all-time series over Franklin Pierce 25-10. They lead Pace 5-2.
