Winning Streak Snapped as Bentley Falls to SNHU in Overtime, 2-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's five game winning streak was snapped on Wednesday night with a 2-1 defeat to Southern New Hampshire in overtime.

SNHU's Eliza Bates scored 7:29 into overtime to give the Penmen the victory.

A goal by Bentley's Gracie Moore 4:31 into the game stood up for more than 43 minutes of game time. But Bates scored 2:45 into the fourth quarter to tie the game 1-1. That was the first goal Bentley conceded for 319 minutes of game time, which covered four full games and parts of two games.

Moore's goal began with a penalty corner, one of 15 Bentley had on the night and one of six in the first quarter.

Britney Pearson sent the ball in to Katie Thies, whose pass was deflected back to Lida Coco. Coco made a couple of moves and sent a pass down low to Moore who tipped it past SNHU's Emma Peeters for the goal.

Bentley held SNHU without a shot on goal until the 3rd quarter. But early in the fourth quarter Bates broke Bentley's scoreless streak and tied the game with her 4th goal of the season.

Neither team scored during the remainder of regulation to send the game to overtime. Bates' goal came off a penalty corner that she initated and cycled back to the front of the cage to take pass from Annemartine Christis for the goal.

Bentley, now 8-5 on the season and 6-2 in the NE10, visits Assumption on Saturday.
