Bentley Field Hockey Holds On for 4th Straight Win, 3-2

RINDGE, N.H. – Three different players scored, one in each of the first three quarters, to stake Bentley University to a 3-0 lead and the Falcons held on for their fourth straight win, 3-2 over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Wednesday afternoon at Sodexho Field.

Sophomore Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School) tallied her seventh of the year just about four minutes into the game, beating the Raven goalkeeper on a breakaway.

Senior Ava Bevilacqua (Dedham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy), last year's leading scorer, picked up her first of the season with 11:34 left in the second quarter. She shot from outside the left post into the right corner of the cage after receiving the ball from sophomore Hannah Blomquist (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS).

Sophomore Emma Halas (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate HS) extended the Falcon advantage with 10:31 remaining in the third. Her first of the year came on a redirect into the cage following a shot from senior Caroline Szatkowski (Reeders, Pa./Pocono Mountain East).

Franklin Pierce (4-11, 3-7 NE10) returned the margin to one midway through the fourth when senior Christine Jarowicz (Kennebunk, Maine) and senior Meghan Winn (Newburyport, Mass.) scored 72 seconds apart.

Bentley sophomore goalie Erin McGuinness (Rutland, Mass./Wachusett Reg. HS), who had played the first three quarters, was reinserted and blanked the home team over the final 5:48. She finished with five saves, including one with eight seconds left following a late Raven penalty corner.

Bentley finished with a slight edge in shots, 15-14, and both teams were awarded six penalty corners.

The Falcons are home for their next two games, Saturday evening against New Haven and Monday afternoon against St. Michael's.
