Blomquist, Coco Score for Bentley in 2-0 Road Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Sophomores Hannah Blomquist (Westwood, Mass./Westwood HS) and Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School) scored the goals as Bentley University defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Wednesday night at a very foggy Jess Dow Field.

Blomquist struck first for the Falcons, a drive from the top of the circle. off a corner inserted by junior Stephanie Drapas (Cazenovia, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius HS). It came with 8:19 left in the second quarter and was her third of the season.

After receiving the ball from sophomore Meagan Hayes (Salem, N.H./Lawrence Academy), Coco scored her team-leading sixth of the season on a breakaway with 11:22 remaining in the third quarter.

The shutout was the second straight for sophomore Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS). She made three saves while improving to 5-2 on the season.

Bentley controlled play throughout the night, outshooting the Owls 10-4. There were only five penalty corners, three by the visitors.

Bentley strengthened its hold on fifth place in the conference, improving to 8-6 overall and 6-3 conference. Southern dropped to 4-10, including 3-7 NE10.

Next up for the Falcons is Franklin Pierce on the road next Wednesday.
