Moore Scores Twice as Bentley Downs Adelphi, 4-3

WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Gracie Moore (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) scored two first-half goals and Bentley University went on to record a 4-3 win over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at home.

Bentley moved to 4-3 in the conference and evened its overall record at 6-6. Adelphi fell to 4-6 overall and 3-2 NE10.

Both of Moore's goals were assisted by sophomore Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School). The first came with 4:50 left in the opening quarter and the second with 8:47 to play in the first half.

A penalty stroke by junior Emily Crowell (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee HS) with 10:07 remaining in the fourth extended Bentley's lead to 3-1 and just over a minute later, sophomore Libby Harrison (North Andover/North Andover HS) scored the Falcons' fourth goal of the afternoon.

After falling behind by three, Adelphi battled back as goals by sophomore Amanda Lee (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and senior Biana Bachisin (Manorville, N.Y.) cut the Falcon deficit from three to one with 5:11 remaining. The Panthers kept pressure on the Bentley net the rest of the way but were held off by the defense.

Sophomore Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS) made two saves for Bentley and junior Annie O'Brien (Acton/Acton-Boxborough HS) was credited with a defensive save.

Shots favored Bentley, 11-10, and Adelphi had a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners.

Bentley's next three games are on the road, beginning next Saturday at Pace University.
