Coco Contributes Goal & Assist as No. 10 Bentley Extends Streak to 6

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman forward Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School), playing in her home state for the first time as a collegian, had a goal and an assist as Bentley University, the tenth-ranked team in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II coaches poll, defeated the University of New Haven, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey at Ralph E. DellaCamera Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The win was the sixth straight for the Falcons, as well as their tenth in their last 12 matches. Bentley improved to 11-4 overall and 9-2 NE10 while handing New Haven (9-7, 6-4 NE10) its fourth conference loss of the season.

Coco broke a 1-1 deadlock with 9:21 remaining on the second quarter clock. She took control of the ball at about the 40 and dribbled it in, eluding several defenders, before shooting from left of the cage from about seven yards out.

With 9:02 left in the fourth, off a corner, Coco fired the ball towards the cage from just inside the circle. Junior Bridget Coughlin (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingsboro Reg. HS) got her stick on it and deflected it into the net.

Bentley's other goal came 32 seconds into the contest with senior Christine Murray (Walpole, Mass./Walpole HS) tallying her fourth of the year. Classmate Kate Slowe (Millis, Mass./Millis HS) intercepted a pass at about the 20 and sent it over to Slowe, who was in front of the net.

Earning her seventh win in eight starts in goal was junior Madison Clark (Natick/ Natick HS). She was credited with four saves while her counterpart for New Haven, Keira Integlia (Branford, Conn.) made eight.

Bentley had the edge in shots, 16-13, including 11-5 on goal, but New Haven had twice as many corners, 10-5.

Bentley is right back in action Sunday with a 2:00 home game against Molloy College.
