M. Halas & Bevilacqua Score as Bentley Edges Adelphi, 2-1

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Goals from juniors Madison Halas (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate HS) and Ava Bevilacqua (Dedham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) gave Bentley University a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at Motamed Field.

Bentley improved to 6-4 overall and 4-2 NE10 with its third win in its last four contests. Adelphi slipped to 3-4 after losing for the third time in four conference games.

The Panthers struck first with freshman Amanda Lee (Stony Brook, N.Y.) knocking in a rebound of her own shot following a save by Falcon keeper Madison Clark (Natick, Mass./Natick HS). That would prove to be the only goal for the home team as the Bentley D blanked the home team over the final 49 minutes of play.

The lead stood for about 13 minutes, until Halas scored her first of the season in the 24th minute.

Halas was also involved in Bentley's second goal, providing the assist on Bevilacqua's fourth of the season. Bevilacqua batted a cross from Halas out of the air and into the goal for what proved to be the game winner.

Clark finished with three saves, and Adelphi's Amanda Monteil (Manorville, N.Y.) had the same number.

Shots favored the home team, 13-4, and the Panthers also had twice as many penalty corners, 10-5.

Bentley's next game is Friday afternoon against Pace University.
